Kirodi Meena's sibling enters in fray against Azhar & Jaunpuria
Meena strong man Dr Kirodi Lal Meena's younger brother Jagmohan Meena today entered the fray from the Sawai Madhopur-Tonk Parliamentary constituency for the April 24 polls creating problems for team India ex-skipper Mohammad Azharuddin (Cong) and former Haryana MLA Sukhbir Singh Jaunpuria(BJP).
Besides the former state administrative officer(RAS) Meena, who has sought voluntary retirement to contest polls, 48 others entered the fray from five constituencies-- Madhopur-Tonk, Alwar, Dausa(ST), Bharatpur(SC) and Dholpur-Karauli(SC), that will go to polls in second phase on April 24-, until the expiry of dead line for filing nominations this afternoon. Jagmohan Meena filed two sets of nominations one as a NPP nominee and another as an Independent.
NPP leader Dr Meena, who had quit his Dausa(ST) seat three months ago following his election to the State Assembly, was aspiring to get a Congress ticket from Dausa for his brother Jagmohan Meena but the party's decision for fielding Union Minister and sitting Tonk-Sawai Madhopur MP from Dausa hurt the Meena strong man.
In retaliation to the 'betrayal' by Congress, Meena changed his strategy, by entering the fray in Dausa to oppose the MoS Finance and his former DGP brother Harish Meena of BJP.
Only with motive to 'teach' the Congress a lesson, and create problems for its nominee former cricketer Azharuddin, he has now fielded Jagmohan from Tonk-Sawai Madhopur. Meena also fielded NPP nominee in Karauli Dholpur.
With passing off dead line for filing papers, a total of 112 candidates have entered the fray on the five above seats since March 29.
Scrutiny will now be held on Monday and withdrawals could be made by April 9.
MoS Defence Jitendra Singh is also among 112 contestants, who is seeking his second term to Lok Sabha from his home town Alwar.
