Legendary Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist lauded Indian offie Ravichandran Ashwin's carrom ball, which knocked off Hashim Amla's off-stump during the second ICC World Twenty20 semi-final between India and South Africa yesterday, as the "T20 ball of the century".

Ashwin's delivery evoked startling comparisons with legendary Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne's ball of the century to Mike Gatting.

The ball pitched well outside leg stump but turned viciously across the face of the bat to crash into the off-stump.

"T20 Ball of the Century from Ashwin. #baffling #dhonisgotoman," Gilchrist wrote on his official twitter page.

Ashwin took three wickets for 22 runs while Virat Kohli once again anchored India's chase with an unbeaten 72 to take India through to the final with a six-wicket win over the Proteas in Mirpur last night.

India will take on Sri Lanka in the final at the same venue tomorrow.
