Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will file his nomination from Varanasi Lok Sabha seat on April 17.


According to party sources, Mr Modi will file his nomination papers and later address an election meeting in this constituency.

The process for filing the nomination papers will start on April 17, while the last date for filing the nomination will be April 24.

The papers would be taken up for scrutiny on April 25, while the last date for withdrawal of names will be April 26.

The Varanasi Lok Sabha seat will go to polls in the last phase on May 12 next.

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal is also contesting the elections against Mr Modi, while BSP has fielded Vijay Prakash Jaiswal as its candidate from Varanasi.

SP's Kailash Chaurasiya is also in fray from this seat, while the Congress was yet to announce its candidate from the seat.

Mr Modi is also contesting the elections from Vadodara parliamentary constituency in Gujarat.
