Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee chief Arjun Modhwadia today alleged that there was a rampant corruption in the state under the Narendra Modi government.

"Narendra Modi has made Gujarat a centre of corruption during his 12 years regime," Mr Modhwadia told reporters here.

He accompanied Congress national general secretary and party candidate from Vadodara Madhusudan Mistry for filing his nomination.

Mr Modhwadia said the BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate was responsible for corruption in the state and he was afraid that was the reason he is contesting from two seats.

Besides Vadodara, Mr Modi is also contesting from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Shankersinh Vaghela alleged that Mr Modi's claim of development was fake.

"Crime graph is increasing in the state. Health facilities are in bad shape," he alleged.

Gujarat will go to single phase polling on April 30 for 26 Lok Sabha seat.
