Adding to the number of farmer suicides in the district, another farmer allegedly committed suicide in Waghale village in this district as he was disturbed by damage caused by the recent unseasonal rain and hailstone to his rabi crops.

According to police sources, Devidas Dasharath Bhamre(32), committed suicide by consuming poison and ended his life yesterday in the village in Satana taluka of the district.

Bhamre had taken loans from a local moneylender and the credit society for his crops. But, he was worried about repaying the loan, as his field had been destroyed due to the unseasonal rain and hailstones in the first week of March.

Debt ridden and depressed by the loss of crops, Devidas took the extreme step. After consuming the poison, he began vomiting and was admitted to Nampur hospital, where he died before medical treatment could be administered.

Meanwhile, Tehsildar Ashwainkumar Potdar, Talati KN Bagul and assistant police inspector Umesh Patil visited the spot and have sent a report to the state government.

Police have registered a case of sudden death and further investigation were on, sources added.

Meanwhile, three farmers from Satana taluka -- Bapu Ramchandra Pawar (62), Atmaram Sitaram Pawar (42) and Chhabu Mohan Bhamre (63) -- had earlier committed suicide because of loss of crops in the recent unseasonal rain and hailstorm.
