The filing of nominations for April 24 Lok Sabha polls gained momentum in five constituencies of Rajasthan, with 31 candidates entering the fray on the penultimate day today.


The contestants who filed their candidature today included Mahant Chandnath Yogi (BJP-Alwar), Suresh Chand Yadav (Congress- Bharatpur-SC), Chandu (BSP-Dausa-ST)), Azmal Khan (NCP-Sawai Madhopur)and Manoj Rajoria (BJP-Karauli-Dholpur-SC).

With this, a total of 65 contestants have so far filed their nominations in these five constituencies since March 29.

Tomorrow will be the last day for filing of papers, scrutiny will be done on Monday and withdrawals could be made by April 9, an election office spokesman said.

The first phase of polling in 20 Parliamentary constituencies will be held on April 17 in the desert state.
