Howrah station get new face
Eastern Railway General Manager R K Gupta visited Howrah station today along with Divisional Railway Manager Anirban Datta and other senior officers of headquarters and division.
During the inspection, Mr Gupta emphasised on timely running of suburban trains in particular and Mail/Express trains in general. He advised to ensure 100 per cent punctuality in case of suburban train services.
The Howrah station as well as adjacent area, particularly, front side of both old complex and new complex will be beautified with plantations, fountains to give a pleasant look to the passengers and users of the station.
The circulating area in station premises and platforms should be cleaned further and given more presentable for the convenience of the passengers. He directed concerned officers to work out in detail for immediate materialisation.
He emphasized on cleanliness of the platforms, toilets, waiting rooms, guest house, retiring rooms etc. The signages and the train display system should be improved further with bigger letters to have clear and better visibility.
In this summer season, drinking water should be ensured for which arrangements has to be done on priority basis. He asked Divisional officers in a meeting after inspection. Security arrangements, safety related issues are to be given priority for implementation on short term basis for the immediate benefit of the passengers.
However, he advised for drawing long term plan with proper initiative and examination for the feasibility in implementation of such plans. He made it clear to the Divisional officers that in case of safety, security and passenger amenities no compromise will be tolerated.
