Suspended Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member Kunal Ghosh, arrested in the Saradha Group chit fund scam, was today admitted to a local hospital after falling ill following a hunger strike.

Mr Ghosh began his fast soon after the Arambagh sub-divisional court yesterday ordered a four-day police remand to him in the alleged fraud case.

Despite repeated requests Mr Ghosh refused to take any food and was taken to a local hospital after his blood pressure fell rapidly.

Mr Ghosh, who has been languishing in different jails since last November, told reporters that the Supreme Court should hear his plea on ordering a CBI inquiry into the Saradha Group chit fund scam.

'If the Supreme Court delays in deciding to take a decision on CBI inquiry by this time they will kill me,' Mr Ghosh said while entering the prison van yesterday.

His counsel, who appeared before the court, said his client was dragged in a false case here.
