15 nominations filed on day 2, Modi to file on Apr 9
A total of 15 candidates including Congress leader and Union Minister for Mines Dinsha Patel today filed their nomination papers on the second day of filing of nominations for the coming Lok Sabha polls.
BJP veteran L K Advani will file his nomination paper on April 5, while party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will file his nomination on April 9. Mr Patel filed his nomination paper from Kheda.
Gujarat Minister for Animal Husbandary, Fisheries, Cow Care and Welfare of Educationally Backward Classes Liladhar Vaghela also filed his nomination paper. He is contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Patan seat.
A total of 15 candidates -- BJP(5), Congress(4), Independent (4), BSP (1) and SUCI(C)(1)-- filed their nominations.
'Senior BJP leader L K Advani will file his nomination paper on April 5 in Gandhinagar at 1300 hrs,' BJP leader Puroshottam Rupala told reporters here today.
He said the Gujarat Chief Minister will also accompany Mr Advani.
'Our prime ministerial candidate Mr Modi will file his nomination on April 9. All the senior leaders of the state unit will be present with him,' Mr Rupala said.
The BJP Rajya Sabha MP said Mr Modi, who is contesting from Vadodara, will file his nomination at 1100 hrs on the last date for filing of nominations.
Besides Vadodara, Mr Modi is also contesting from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
The state will go to a single phase polling on April 30 for 26 Lok Sabha seats.
Last date for filing of nomination is April 9. Scrutiny of nominations will be done on April 10.
Last date for withdrawal of candidature is April 12. Counting of votes will be held on May 16.
Yesterday, on the first day of filing of nominations, a total of four candidates filed their nominations.
