Bokhiria's exoneration in murder case unfortunate: Modhwadia
Gujarat Congress Pradesh Committee president Arjun Modhwadia today termed as 'painful', the Supreme Court's order discharging state Water Resources minister Babu Bokhiria murder charges against him in connection with the murder of Porbandar Congress leader Mulu Modhwadia.
In a statement, Mr Modhwadia said that a letter was found from Mulu's wallet by his family members after murder, in which he had stated that in case of his murder, Bokhiria should be held responsible. The letter was a sort of dying statement.
Moreover, police had obtained the phone call details of Bokhiria, which pointed out that he had talked with the accused, before and after the murder.
'Even a trial court in Porbandar had issued a warrant against Bokhiria. The trial court order was upheld by the Gujarat High Court, but unfortunately, the apex court has exonerated the main conspirator of the Bokhiria murder case.
'If the murderers of Mulu Modhwadia and former minister of state for Home Haren Pandya are innocent, then who are the real culprits, he asked and said Chief Minister Narendra Modi should answer.
It is the misfortune of the people of the state that a person like Bokhiria, who is involved in murder and has been given a three-year jail sentence is a Cabinet Minister, he said.
Mr Modhwadia, a local Congress leader in Porbandar, was gunned down on November 16, 2005, allegedly by three persons.
