HMK candidate rides on buffalo to file nomination
Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) nominee for Tirunelveli Lok Sabha constituency created flutter at the district collector office by riding on a buffalo to file his nomination paper, here today.
At a time when the candidates choose either car rally or motorcade, S Subramaniam, clad in saffron dress, rode a buffalo to the Collector office to file his nomination. He became cynosure of all eyes when he entered into the Collector's office on buffalo in a slow procession, accompanied by eight HMK men.
Talking to newpersons, Subramaniam, who is the Tirunelveli District General Secretary of HMK, said he does not have financial capacity to come in a car or motorcycle like other candidates. Citing frequent hike in fuel prices in Congress-led UPA Government, he said the economy of the nation was ruined under the UPA Regime.
Meanwhile, Puthiya Tamilagam Founder K Krishnasamy, filed his nomination for Tenkasi (Reserved) Lok Sabha constituency, here.
Dr Krishnasamy, an ally of DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA), told newspersons that the DPA will sweep all the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamilnadu and Puducherry.
Tamil Nadu goes to polls on April 24.
