A doctor was arrested by the Vigilance sleuths while demanding illegal gratification of Rs 4000 for cleaning stitch of a patient.


Vigilance sources said a case was registered against Dr Ajit Negi, Sub-Divisional Hospital, Dharmagarh yesterday for demanding Rs 4,000 from one Dambarudhar Dharua of Padampur village for cleaning the stitch of his sister-in-law who was operated by Dr Negi in the Hospital.

In course of investigation a trap was laid today by the Vigilance Officers of Koraput Division. Dr Negi was caught red handed by the Vigilance Officers at his residential clinic at Dharmagarh while accepting bribe amount.

The bribe amount has been recovered from the possession of Dr Negi and seized in presence of witnesses.
