The first unit of 600 Megawatt (MW) of Phase one of 'Raghunathpur Thermal Power Project' of Damodar Valley Corporation was synchronised with the grid today.


Situated at Raghunathpur in Purulia district, about 200 km from here the Thermal Power Project is being implemented in two phases.

The Phase one comprising two units of 600 MW each and being executed at a cost of Rs 6745 crores, while the second unit was slated for commissioning in the next fiscal, official sources here informed.

They said there would also be two units of 660 MW each in phase two of the project with Super Critical Boilers and the expected cost had been estimated at Rs 9089 crores.

Incidentally DVC currently operates six thermal stations in West Bengal and Jharkhand in addition to three hydel stations.
