A group of around 30 Congress leaders from Navi Mumbai and Mira-Bhayander cities today openly revolted against Maharashtra and guardian minister Ganesh Naik, declaring that they would not work for the Congress-NCP combine nominee and sitting MP Sanjiv Naik during the current Lok Sabha elections.

'We want to see the defeat of Sanjeev Naik in the election and hence work for his defeat, and ask the citizens of the constituency not to vote for him,' they told a news conference here this afternoon.

The Congressmen, including former corporators of both the city municipal corporations, were visibly annoyed over the NCP's 'attitude' towards the Congressmen in both the cities.

The leaders said they were quitting the Congress in protest against the attitude of the NCP towards the Congress activists.
