Sri Aravindar Higher Secondary School at Muthialpet today received a bomb threat which later turned out to be hoax.

According to Muthialpet Police Sub-Inspector, Lokanathan, an anonymous person called the school in the afternoon and told them about a bomb inside the premises. The school authorities immediately alerted the police about the threat.

The personnel from Muthialpet police station and Inspector Chinta Gothandaraman rushed to the school along with bomb and dog squads.

The students of the school were evacuated and thorough search was conducted in the premises. However, police could not find any explosives and the call turned out to be hoax.

Police said the public examination for Class ten was over by 1230 hrs and classes were to be held from LKG to class nine in the afternoon.

Parents of the children also rushed to the school after hearing the news. The police were investigating the matter.
