Ruling BJP indulged in corruption on metro project: Congress
Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) chief Arjun Modhvadia today alleged that the ruling BJP has indulged in corruption of more than Rs 200 crore in the name of Metro rail project at Ahmedabad, without making any progress.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said the BJP government in Gujarat had put up big hoardings about the Metro rail project ahead of state Assembly elections in December 2012 to get urban votes.
Till now, more than Rs 200 crore have been spent in the name of the project, but no progress has been made in that direction, he said.
He further said the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre has allocated crores of rupees to four major cities of the state under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission.
But the state has failed to achieve the desired level of development as the ruling BJP governement and the BJP-ruled municiple corporations have indulged in unbridled corruption, he alleged.
Congress has announced its candidates for 25 Lok Sabha constituencies, out of total 26 seats in Gujarat, which will go to polls on April 30.
Porbandar seat has gone to NCP, its alliance partner.
