Ruling BJP indulged in corruption on metro project: Congress
Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) chief Arjun Modhvadia today alleged that the ruling BJP has indulged in corruption of more than Rs 200 crore in the name of Metro rail project in Ahmedabad without making any progress.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said that the BJP government in Gujarat had put up big hoardings about the Metro rail project ahead of state assembly elections in December 2012 to get the urban votes.
Till now, more than Rs 200 crore have been spent in the name of the project but no progress has been made in that direction, he said.
He further said that the Congress-led UPA government at the centre has allocated crores of rupees to four major cities of the state under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission.
But the state has failed to achieve the desired level of development as the ruling BJP governement and the BJP-ruled municipal corporations have indulged in unbridled corruption, he alleged.
He said that the Congress has announced its candidates for 25 Lok Sabha constituencies, out of total 26 seats in Gujarat. Porbandar seat has gone to NCP, its alliance partner.
