The trial court today examined the three witnesses, who were recalled yesterday, in connection with the framing of additional charge against three common convicts in the Shakti Mills photojournalist gangrape case.

Following the deposition of three witnesses, the sessions court will start hearing the final arguments in the case from tomorrow.

According to Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, after hearing the final argument, the court is likely to pronounce its verdict tomorrow itself on the fate of three common convicts, who have been charged under a fresh rape section, which entails death penalty.

Kasim Bengali, Vijay Jadhav and Mohammed Salim Ansari are the common accused, who have also been convicted in the telephone operator gangrape case.

The court had last month framed an additional charge under section 376(e) (punishment for repeated offence of rape) of Indian Penal Code against the accused.

The 18-year-old telephone operator was gangraped on the premises of Shakti Mills in July last year, a month before the photojournalist was brutalised on August 22.
