Three-time MPs Chandrakanat Khaire of Shiv Sena from Aurangabad and Raosaheb Danve (BJP) from Jalna were among five candidates who filed their nomination papers today for the two Lok Sabha constituencies of Marathwada region of Maharashtra, where polls are due on April 24.


Mr Khaire, who is trying his luck for fourth time in a row, filed his nomination papers in front of the returning officer and district collector Vikram Kumar here.

Before filing the nomination papers, Mr Khaire, accompanied by Vinod Ghosalkar, Amol Khole and city mayor Kala Oza, walked in a precession from Kranti chowk to the collector's office.

Besides Mr Khaire, Pushpa Jadhav (Ambedkar National Congress) and Independent Kazi Mouddin also filed their nomination papers today.

In Jalna, Mr Danve, accompanied by alliance leaders, walked in a procession from Mama chowk to Bhagyanagar, where he addressed the party workers and from there went to district collector's office to file the nomination paper, sources from election office said.

The last date for filing of nomination is April 5, sources added.
