Forty one-year-old large ape male gorilla has taken ill and is becoming weak day by day in the Mysore Zoo, according to B P RAVI, Chief Conservator of Forests and Zoo Executive Director.

He said the animal has become less active and noticed that right side of the lower lip was found partially paralyzed. It was drinking only fruit juice.

Suggestions were taken by Dr Yathiraj, Dean, Veterinary College, Bangalore, to treat the animal. He has advised to give polybion syrup which is already being given. The health condition of the animal is going down day by day.

Zoo Veterinarians and Dr Sunder Raj are monitoring the health condition regularly. It had faced similar problem during last summer also.

The Polo was born in wild in the year 1973, who was later acquired by Leipzig Zoo. He was housed in the Leipzig Zoo from 1974. Afterwards he was loaned to Dublin Zoo. Polo is one of the very import and very popular among the visitors in the zoo, he added.
