Magician PC Sorcar (junior) contesting Lok Sabha election on a BJP ticket today moved the court seeking an anticipatory bail in connection with an FIR for violating the model code of conduct.

North 24 Paragans District Magistrate Sanjay Bansal lodged the FIR in the Barasat police station against Mr Sorcar after the latter's answer on the remarks was found unsatisfactory.

The Election Commission had served a show cause notice on Saturday and had asked Mr Sorcar to reply by Monday. However, when the reply was found not satisfactory, the DM filed the FIR.

The magician during campaigning last week in Barasat allegedly made objectionable remarks against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress sitting MP Kakali Ghosh-Dastidar.

TV footage revealed that Mr Sorcar, without naming said, "She says rapists are naughty boys. I ask her, if she is raped, what will be her opinion?."

Mr Sorcar, with his lawyers moved an anticipatory bail in the Barasat court, which is expected to be heard later today.
