An irate mob yesterday ransacked the Office of the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), at Boisar industrial estate, district rural police said today.


PSI VR Patil of the Boisar police station told UNI that, the mob allegedly lead by one Kishore Thakur and others, raided the office of the Pollution Control board and ransacked it.

The mob damaged the office furniture, equipment and computers among other things, the police said.

Members in the mob also carried contaminated water in bottles and threw it around the office and on the people in the office, including Pollution Control officer Sanjay Bhole. Various documents in the office were also totally spoiled as the waste water was thrown on it, the complaint with the police states.

Boisar police have booked the mob under sections 353, 332, 143,147, 148, 504, 506 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code and further investigations into the crime is being conducted by the local police.

'No arrest has been made so far in connection with the incident of attack on the MPCB office by the mob,' Boisar police told UNI this morning.
