A new political party, 'State Autonomy Party' (SAP), was launched here today with the aim of supporting the ruling AIADMK in the April 24 Lok Sabha Elections in Tamil Nadu.

Talking to reporters, its Founder Seethaiyin Maindan said since the AIADMK was striving to achieve his party's objective of state autonomy, the SAP has decided to support the AIADMK in the polls.

He said Chief Minister J jayalalithaa was striving hard to get Tamil Nadu's rights from the Centre and was also making all efforts to retrieve the Katchatheevu from Sri Lanka, an islet ceded in 1974.

He said it has become inevitable that the people of the state have to support the AIADMK, which has been working for the welfare of the people by introdcuing various welfare measures.

He said his party would also work for the victory of the AIADMK candidates in all the 39 seats in the State and the lone seat in Puducherry.
