A Special Sub Inspector of Police, attached to the Election Commission's Static Surveillance Team, was transferred to Tamil Nadu Armed Reserve Police wing, a day after he allegedly used abusive words against Marumalarchi DMK (MDMK) partymen here.

Police sources said Ramakrishnan, the SSI, intercepted the convoy of MDMK General Secretary Vaiko when he was going for an election campaign at Periyavallikulam Village, near Aruppukottai in this Southern district yesterday and allegedly abused the partymen.

Enraged over this, Vaiko resorted to road roko agitation on the Virudhunagar-Aruppukottai road. On the intervention of senior revenue and police officials, Vaiko later withdrew his stir. However, the MDMK men demanded suspension of the SSI for his rude behavior.

Virudhunagar Superintendent of Police S Maheswaran today ordered the transfer of Ramakrishnan to the Armed Reserve Police wing.

Vaiko is contesting from Virudhunagar Lok Sabha constituency.
