Gujarat govt declares holiday on April 30
The Gujarat government has declared holiday on April 30, the day of polling for 26 Lok Sabha and seven assembly constituencies under Negotiable Instruments Act.
According to Chief Electoral officer Anita Karval, the Election Commission has increased the voting timing on April 30 by two hours in view of the hot summer days. Now the polling would begin at 0700 hrs and end at 1800 hrs.
She said the EC has taken the decision of increasing the polling timing for the first time to ensure that the voters exercise their franchise without facing scorching heat.
