Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi continuing his attack on BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi said that the BJP was only interested in occupying the Prime Minister's chair instead of talking about the rights of poor, down-trodden, women and tribals and in 2014 the people will burst the 'balloon of Gujarat Model of Development'.

Addressing a public meeting here, Mr Gandhi said that the BJP only wants to form a government of few people.

"They say (BJP) give us the chair of Prime Minister, we will do this and we will do that...we will do everything but whether the people of this country make us (Congress) win or not we will continue our fight for the poor, the weaker sections of the society, women and tribals," he said.

"The BJP and its leader will never talk about giving rights to the people," he said.

Criticising Mr Modi, he said that whenever the election comes, the BJP inflates a new balloon. In the year 2004, their balloon of 'India Shining' got burst and this time around they have got a new balloon named 'Gujarat Model of Development'.

"In 2004, their balloon of India Shining got burst as the poor, the farmer, the labourers and the tribals came and pressed the button in favour of the Congress, the same story was repeated in the last election as these people again pressed the button of the Congress and this time in 2014 the balloon of Gujarat Model of Development will meet the same fate," he said.

Mr Gandhi said that Congress has space for the poor and the weaker sections of the society and it is for them it keeps on fighting. "We talk about power to people," he said, adding that he did not want an India where only houses of the big industrialists and the affluent were lighted.

"I want an India where every poor has a roof over his head, that children go to school and every one has the access to food and health," he said.
