Four candidates including three sitting Congress MPs Gurudas Kamat, Priya Dutt and Sanjay Nirupam along with Bollywood starlet Rakhi Sawant filed nomination papers for different constituencies for the coming Lok Sabha election to be held here on April 24.

Mr Kamat filed the nomination at Bandra for the Mumbai north-west seat, while Ms Dutt filed her nomination papers for Mumbai north-central seat.

Mr Nirupam filed the nomination for Mumbai north seat.

Ms Sawant also filed her nomination for Mumbai north-west constituency as an Independent candidate. She is in fray against Mr Kamat.

Ms Dutt, on the other hand, sought to downplay the threat posed by her competitors in the constituency during the LS polls.

"We are always together in the Congress. I do not wish to comment on who is my competitor. If I think so much, then I will not be able to do my work." I really want to focus on the elections. It is the public who will decide at the end who wins,' Ms Dutt said and asserted that Muslims are with the Congress.

Pitted against Ms Dutt are Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Abu Farhan Azmi, the son of Maharashtra MLA Abu Asim Azmi and BJP's Poonam Mahajan, daughter of Pramod Mahajan, for the seat.

Mr Nirupam, a three-time MP, has served both in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. He was a Shiv Sena member of the Upper House for nine years and later was elected to the Lower House on a Congress ticket.

Ms Sawant had been offered a BJP ticket from Srirampur in West Bengal, but she declined it as she didn't know the local language.
