Gujarat Govt declares holiday on Apr 30
The Gujarat government has declared holiday on April 30, the day of polling for 26 Lok Sabha and 7 assembly constituencies in the state, under Negotiable Instruments Act.
According to Chief Electoral officer Anita Karval, the Election Commission has increased the time for voting on April 30 by two hours in view of the hot summer days. Now, the polling would begin at 0700 hours and end at 1800 hours.
She said that the EC has taken the decision to increase the time for polling for the first time, so that voters can exercise their franchise without facing scorching heat.
