Amravati: Modi slams Pawar over farmer suicides

Amravati, Mar 30 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed a massive rally at Amravati in Maharashtra and slammed Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar.

"Congress-NCP's lack of concern for farmers of Maharashtra is worrying," he said at the rally.

He said Pawar has done little to save the farmers in the belt referring to the series of suicides in Amravati.

"Union Agriculture Minister is from Maharashtra but he is silent on suffering of farmers. He has time to talk about cricket, not on farmers," the Gujarat CM said.

Slamming the Congress party, the aspiring PM said, "With their names appearing in CWG and Adarsh Scams, Maharashtra Cong-NCP leaders are disrespecting Shivaji Maharaj's legacy of good governance."

Modi said the Lok Sabha election is a fight between good governance agenda of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the misgovernance of UPA

"2014 Lok Sabha Elections is a contest between good governance agenda of NDA versus the misgovernance and corruption of UPA," he said.

He said, "Best tribute to respected Balasaheb Thackeray would be to fulfill his dream of Congress-NCP free Maharashtra and India."
