A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Wednesday adjourned till Apr 21 the hearing on naming Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's close aide Amit Shah as an accused in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case.

The CBI sought 25 days' time from the court to reply to a plea filed by the father of a victim in the case.

"Gopinath Pillai, father of Javed alias Pranesh Pillai, had filed an application seeking the addition of Amit Shah and KR Kaushik as accused in the case," reported CNN-IBN.

Shah was the Gujarat Home Minister and Kaushik was the Commissioner of Police (CP) Ahmedabad at the time of the encounter.

Nineteen-year-old Ishrat was gunned down by the Gujarat Police along with Javed Ghulam Sheikh alias Pranesh Kumar Pillai, Amjad Ali alias Rajkumar Akbar Ali Rana and Jisan Johar Abdul Gani in Ahmedabad on June 15, 2004.

The police alleged that Ishrat and three others were Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants who conspired to assassinate Modi.
