The Congress-led Centre on Tuesday deferred the gas price hike till after the Lok Sabha elections.

Accepting former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal's complaint the Election Commission (EC) on Monday sought details on gas price hike from the Centre.

"The EC sought information from the Petroleum Ministry on whether it wanted permission to fix prices or to notify terms and conditions for it," reported CNN-IBN.

Kejriwal had filed a complaint with the EC saying that the government was planning to hike gas prices from April 1, days before the Lok Sabha elections.
