In a thrilling encounter, Hong Kong defeated Bangladesh by two wickets to win a Qualifying stage match of the World T20 here on Thursday.

Chasing Bangladesh 108 all out, Hong Kong reached 114 by losing eight wickets with 2 balls to spare.

Munir Dar played a heroic knock of 36 runs off 27 balls, which was laced by three boundaries and a six, to help the visitors beat the host.

Shakib Al Hasan took three wickets for Bangladesh.

Earlier Bangladesh were bowled out for 108.

Nadeem Ahmed picked up four while Nizakat Khan took three and Tanwir Afzal scalped two to restrict the Test playing opponent to 108.

Despite this defeat, Bangladesh has reached the Super 10 stage of the tournament.
