Mumbai, Mar 17 : Ritika Mirchandani showcased a divine, indulgent collection titled 'Liberty' aimed at the contemporary Indian woman at Jabong Stage during Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014.
The designer stuck to an ethereal rustic feel for the silhouettes, which were beautifully contoured with Indian aesthetics. Blended with timeless international softly structured cuts and balanced out with flowing edges in decadent fabrics like chiffon and organza, the collection was a trendy look at women's wear.
The colour palette comprised regal shades of deep jewel blue, golden yellow, orange, black, lemon and pure white. These hues perfectly complemented the saris, tunics, salwars, jackets, skirts, dresses and tops.
Floral and bird motif detailing added a fresh touch while bright coloured accents and layers were the highlight of this line. These were used to break up geometric stylised forms and also helped to enhance the art nouveau inspired elements among the outfits.
The showstopper was actress Amrita Puri who walked the ramp in a luxurious white lehenga with the blouse heavily embroidered in antique gold thread work.
Farah Sanjana's collection 'The Flamboyance of Flamingos' at the Jabong Stage during Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014 was a youthful celebration of warm tones, emulating a charming and feminine appeal.
Inspired by the Flamingos from France; the designer aimed at capturing the calmness, grace, form and beauty and incorporated it in her collection.
Soft and delicate fabrics like flowing georgette, soft net, silk crepe and stretch Elastane transformed into romantic, modern silhouettes. Cropped tops, flirty-flowing skirts, palazzo pants, cigarette pants, bikini tops, sheer cover-ups and short dresses were a great mix of style.
To further add to the mix, saris helped to give just the right ethnic touch to this range.
The colour palette of the collection was a refreshing blend of hot pink, sky blue, Hawaiian orange and candy orange with each piece being exquisitely embellished with metal and leather accessories.
An outfit which particularly stood out was a gorgeous printed net kaftan paired with shorts and a cross-tie tube top which was perfect for any beach bunny ready to frolic in the sun.
