Warm-up: Sri Lanka beat India
Fiery bowling by Lasith Malinga helped Sri Lanka maintain their strong performance in Bangaladesh, where they recently clinched the Asia Cup, as they defeated India by five runs in a warm-up game for both teams ahead of the ICC World Twenty20 at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium here on Monday.
Chasing Sri Lanka's 153 for six, India were bowled out for 148 runs in 20 overs.
Indian captain MS Dhoni did not bat in this match.
India never got off to a good start and lost two wickets with 19 on the scoreboard in 4.2 overs.
Shikhar Dhawan (2) and Rohit Sharma (4) failed to give India a strong start in the contest.
Suresh Raina (41) and YuvRaj Singh (33) added 35 runs in the third wicket partnership which gave Indians some hopes of finishing the match on a winning note.
Things, however, changed as India lost the wickets of Raina and Ajnikya Rahane (0) to struggle at 56 for four.
Virat Kohli, who had captained the side in Asia Cup, scored 17 before he was bowled out by Malinga. Yuvraj departed soon as the scorecard ead 111 for six.
Jadeja, like Kohli, failed to convert his start and added only 12 runs.
Stuart Binny (14) and R Ashwin (19) failed to help India reach the target.
Malinga finished the day with 30 for four.
Earlier, Sri Lanka scored 153 for six in their 20 overs.
Mahela Jayawardene remained the top scorer for the side with his 30.
Ashwin took three wickets for India.
In another warm-up match, Pakistan defeated New Zealand by six wickets and one ball to spare here on Monday.
Chasing New Zealand's 145 for nine, Pakistan reached 149 by losing nine wickets in 19.5 overs.
Kamran Akmal (52) and skipper Mohammad Hafeez (55) top-scored for Pakistan.
New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum earlier hit unbeaten 59 to help his side post 145 on the scoreboard.
