Shiv Sena spokesman joins NCP
Shiv Sena spokesperson Rahul Narvekar on Monday joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and will contest the Lok Sabha polls on the party's ticket from the Maval constituency.
Narvekar reportedly left Shiv Sena after he was asked by the party high command to withdraw his candidature from the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections.
Narvekar on Sunday met NCP supremo Sharad Pawar.
He is the son-in-law of senior NCP leader Ramraje Naik Nimbalkar.
Before joining NCP, he was the spokesman of the Youth Wing of Shiv Sena, which is headed by party president Uddhav Thackeray's son Aditya.
His withdrawal from the fray of legislative council elections had paved the way for nine candidates getting elected to the Legislative Council unopposed.
