Ahmedabad, Mar 13 : The Gujarat unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said it wants state Chief Minister and the party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to contest the Lok Sabha polls from his home state.

"Most of the BJP supporters here want Modi to contest from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat. We hope Modi contests from Gujarat," said party spokesperson Vijay Rupani.

Earlier, reports said BJP might field Modi from Varanasi constituency of Uttar Pradesh.
