Manipur joined Chhattisgarh to enter the semi-finals of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship played at Chamundi Vihar Hockey Ground here on Friday.


Manipur and Chhattisgarh have booked their berth for the semi-finals from Pool A and Pool C respectively.

In their last league match of Pool A, Manipur registered their third win in a row defeating Vidarbha Hockey Association 6-0.

Irresistible Manipur took 2-0 lead in the first half when Sonia Devi scored at the 17th minute and captain Gitarani Devi scoring in the 22nd minute.

The second half of the game saw, Manipur girls going all out and closing the game with a 6-0 victory over Vidarbha Hockey Association, where Bidyarani Devi scored two goals at 39th and 47th minute and Sonia Devi took her total of goals to three by scoring two more goals at 49th and 60th minute.

In the another match of Pool A, Uttarakhand recorded a big win over Tripura 18-0.

The unstoppable squad of Uttarakhand saw Mamta Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt, scoring 5 goals each and Surbhi Tiwari and Maya Bisht pocketing 4 goals each for the team.

Within the first 13th minutes, Uttarakhand had banked 5 goals in their kitty with Mamta Bhatt opening the account with a goal at the 3rd minute and scoring again at the 13th minute, followed by Surbhi Tiwari at 5th and 10th minute, Pooja Bhatt at the 9th minute.

Tripura's effort in the game failed to leave any impact on Uttarakhand's score sheet.

The first half of the match saw Uttarakhand with a lead of 10 goals over Tripura before finally taking them down by 18-0 and registering their victory.
