New Delhi, Mar 6 : The Delhi High Court on Thursday lifted the stay on the release of Hindi film 'Gulaab Gang' starring actors Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla.
A division bench of acting Chief Justice BD Ahmed and Justice Siddharth Mridul vacated the suspension granted by a single judge bench of the court on Wednesday on the film's release.
The film is scheduled to hit the silver screen on Friday.
It had landed in trouble after a single judge bench on Wednesday stayed its release by nearly nine weeks after taking note of defamation law suit filed by Sampat Pal, a Uttar Pradesh-based activist.
The film production house assured the bench that they will run a disclaimer that the movie is not based on the life of Sampat Pal and her work. It filed an appeal against the restraint order passed by a single-judge bench earlier.
"Are you ready to do the needful? This Women's Day, join the Gulaab Gang in theaters near you, starting March 7th!" Madhuri tweeted.
"Show us the power of the people: come dressed in pink!" she said.
Thanking her fans, she further tweeted: "Thanks to all my fans for their prayers and good wishes! See you at the theaters!"
The film is directed by Soumik Sen.
