Internet radio app on Kolkata launched

Kolkata, Jan 17 : Web Development company Brandnext has launched India's first ever android based internet radio application called Radio Kolkata.
This is the first of its kind to be launched in India and is a huge step in the internet radio industry, the company informed.
Danseuse Alokananda Roy, Film Director Bedabrata Pain, Rupak Barua, CEO, B.M. Birla Heart Research Institute and Chess Player Dibyendu Barua were present at the occasion.
"India today is the largest users of Google based android. 91pc percent of Smartphone users in India are Google androids. This makes the internet app market very nascent and prospective. We wanted to do something for the city, and keeping in mind the techno-savvy youth. This is also an attempt to bridge distance between Kolkata and rest of the world", said Kaushik Moulik, CEO, Brandnext.
Radio Kolkata is the first of kind in any city in India. An initiative by the makers of kolkatatoday.com, an online news portal which gets as many as 2 million hits a month, the company stated.
This internet radio will be bilingual- both English and Bengali. This app will receive updated bulletin about in and around Kolkata.
The app will be in an audio format. One can stay in touch with Kolkata, even if they are miles away.
Radio Kolkata will help to keep the users updated regarding all that is happening around the city of joy and suburb.
"Today out of 1.4 billion smart phone users around the world, Android captures the maximum share of 80pc of the world market. Nine hundred million people in the world use Android application subscriber's and India is considered to have one of the largest app developer communities," the company said.
