David Warner and Ryan Harris heroes of Australia's 245-runs win over host South Africa in the Cape Town Test have achieved best-ever positions in the latest Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Tests, released on Thursday morning.

Warner, who slammed hundreds (135 and 145) in both innings of the Cape Town Test, has moved up five places to a career-high of fifth in the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Test Batsmen. Warner was named the player of the match for his efforts with the bat.

Warner, who also won the player of the series award, is now the highest-ranked Australia batsman, with his skipper Michael Clarke in ninth position being the only other in the top 10. The batting table is still headed by AB de Villiers, with Kumar Sangakkara in second place and Shivnarine Chanderpaul in third position.

Outside the top 10 Steven Smith jumped five places to a best-ever 12th following knocks of 84 and 36 in the Cape Town Test. The biggest mover outside the top 20 was Faf du Plessis, as he rose six places to a best-ever 23rd.

In the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Test Bowlers, Ryan Harris who ended with a match haul of seven for 95, has moved up two places to a best-ever second position.

Harris has now moved ahead of Vernon Philander and teammate Mitchell Johnson.

Philander, who picked just one wicket in the Cape Town Test, is down a place to third, while Johnson has dropped down a place to fourth. The bowlers' table is still headed by Dale Steyn.

Outside the top 20 the biggest movers were James Pattinson in 28th (up by four), Kyle Abbott in 45th (up by three) and JP Duminy in 62nd (up by seven).

Meanwhile, the only solace for South Africa from the Cape Town Test was in the fact that Philander has now become the number-one ranked all-rounder on the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Test all-rounders.

Philander, who scored 37 and 51 not out in either innings, has moved up two places to top of the all-rounders' table, pushing India's Ravichandran Ashwin to second. Philander is now on 376 ratings points, just three ahead of Ashwin.

Smith signs off in 16th position

Meanwhile, Graeme Smith signed off on his impressive Test career in 16th place in the batting table.

Smith reached a career high of second position after his match-winning century against England in Johannesburg in January 2010. That was also when he achieved a best-ever 843 ratings points.

He ends his ODI career in 42nd position on the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for ODI Batsmen. Smith spent 57 matches and 160 days as the top-ranked batsman in ODI cricket between March and August 2008. He achieved a best-ever ratings points of 784 in November 2005.

In Twenty20 International cricket he spent 31 matches and 415 days at number one position on the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for T20I Batsmen. He first went atop in February 2006 and last was in the top position in September 2007.
