Bratya Basu inaugurates Dumdum food fest

Kolkata, Jan 17 : West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu along with MP Sougata Roy and Tollywood actress Indrani Haldar inaugurated the second Dumdum Khadya Mela (food festival) "Nale Jhole" at Sishu Udyan in Kolkata's Dumdum area on Friday.

Conceptualized by Debasish Bandopadhyay, Chief coordinator and a Social Worker, 'Nale Jhole', the 2nd Dumdum Food Festival delivered a wide range of brands like Mainland China, Pizza Hut, Bhojohori Manna, Banccharam, Dhaka Biriyani House, Koshe Kasha and many more.

It is a one week food fair starting from Jan 17 and will continue till Jan 25.

Some of the well known food stall owners of the fair include Aarsenal, Dhaka Biriyani, Goal Bari, Hang Out, Bhaja Hari Manna, Mitra Cafe, Bancharam, Dominos Pizza and lots more.

The Dumdum Food Festival showcased delicious dishes where food lovers also enjoyed seafood dishes of Tamil Nadu.

Speaking on the occasion, Bratya Basu said, "We are very happy and excited to inaugurate the 2nd Dumdum Khadya Mela 'Nale Jhole'. The festival featured delicious and mesmerizing flavors to give the people different palettes of taste and feel of the dishes. This is a foodie city but apart from eating, not many food activities happen! So I'm glad this food fiesta is taking place."

Said Debasish Bandopadhyay, "The City of Joy always appreciates and encourages grand food festivals. The local flavors have become a well-loved cuisine for the people of Kolkata. The festival is also a promotion of the skills and creativity of the great restaurants and a celebration of the amalgamation of the diverse dishes and tastes."

"These festivals have always been a means of uniting communities through celebrations of harvests and giving thanks for a plentiful growing season," he said.
