Feminists outraged over 'prostitution for beginners' workshop in Spain
An enterprising association of prostitutes in Barcelona has caused outrage among some of Spain's most prominent feminists by offering an "intro to prostitution" course.
At a cost of 45 euro's a person, Asociacion de Profesionales del Sexo, a group of eight sex workers who lobby for better rights for those in the industry, held a four-hour intensive course for aspiring sex workers last month.
Course organiser Conxa Borrell said that all professionals need some training, asserting that sex work was no different.
She said that this isn't an easy profession, explaining that there is no other line of work in which one shares such intimacy with someone.
The association's efforts to normalise the profession have raised eyebrows before, like last year's sold-out "sex for women as taught by prostitutes" workshop.
Borrell said that the course had attracted 15 women from 22 to 50 and the attendees included those who were considering the idea and others who had recently started in the industry and wanted more information.
