Oscar Pistorius trial begins
Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius' trial over the killing of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp last year began on Monday.
The athlete reportedly pleaded not guilty at the beginning of the trial for the murder of his girlfriend.
Pistorius' neighbour Michelle Burger, said cries for help were followed by shots on Feb 14 last year.
"She screamed terribly and she yelled for help. Then I also heard a man screaming for help. Three times he yelled for help," Burger was quoted as saying by BBC in the court.
Pistorius was charged with murder and illegal possession of ammunition following the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in February last year.
He was granted bail on Feb 22, 2013.
Pistorius had admitted shooting dead Steenkamp, 29, while she was in the bathroom of his home on Feb 14. He claimed he mistook her for an intruder and denied a charge of premeditated murder.
