JK Rowling's 'Harry Potter books' have topped a new list of children's favorite books which have been turned into films.

The list compiled by Renaissance Learning, which has been studying the reading habits of more than 400,000 children in 2,000 primary and secondary schools in the UK, features six of the author's books, the BBC reported.

'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix', 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' and 'Catching Fire' by Suzanne Collins were jointly at the first position, while the fourth place was shared by 'Inheritance' by Christopher Paolini and 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets'.

The online education company said that the fact that children are reading books which are quite challenging for their age group, suggests films, computer games and branded products which are linked with books might be boosting literacy.
