Former India captain Sourav Ganguly was on Tuesday conferred a degree of Honorary D.Litt. by the Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU).


The honorary award was given to Ganguly at its 16th annual convocation.

University Chancellor and West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayanan was present on the occasion.

Vice-Chancellor Ajay Kumar Roy said, "We all know that Sourav is not an engineer. But every engineer should have the capability to lead and to honour this aspect we are felicitating the greatest leader Team India ever had."

BESU also conferred honorary D.Sc. to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman Dr. K. Radhakrishnan.

Padma Vibhushan Professor Roddam Narasimha was the chief guest at the function.
