Tollywood actor Soham Chakraborty on Tuesday inaugurated the 7th edition of the 'India Haat', an exhibition-cum-sale of ethnic art and craft products, here at the Ice Skating Rink.


The three day exhibition has been organized by the Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar.

A veritable treasure-trove of an astonishing variety of indigenous and hand-crafted items, some of these products include jewelry paintings on marble, kids bean bags, finest hand crafted Pariah Porcelain, handcrafted artifacts, metal handicrafts, home decor and furnishing, purses, bags, fashion accessories, table wares and pottery.

Visitors can also get best of Tanjore painting by leading artists, brass, glass, silver and mother-of-pearl artifacts, some exclusive bridal and designer clothing, as well as diamond, meena, kundan and polka jewellery and also some mouthwatering brownies, muffins and chocolates.



The proceeds from the three day event will be used for various charitable activities of Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar including free heart surgeries for needy children, free cataract surgeries for underpriviledged at its eye hospital Hari Charan Garg Rotary Mahanagar Netralaya, blood donation helpline, disaster relief, scholarships and upcoming dialysis center.

The stalls have been divided in five sections (Haute Haat, Aangan Haat, Jewel Haat, Designer Haat, Art Haat) for the ease of shoppers.

The 7th edition of the India Haat will be on from Jan 14 to Jan 16, 2014 at the Ice Skating Rink.

The exhibition which saw a footfall of nearly 10000 plus people last year, expects 12000 plus people this time, said the Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar.
