Baghdad, Jan 17 : At least 30 people were killed and 25 others wounded in the latest wave of violent attacks across Iraq, police said Thursday.

An Iraqi police patrol Thursday found the bodies of 14 people who had been shot dead in an orchard in Mshahada, a Sunni Arab village near Tarmiyah, some 30 km north of Baghdad, a police source told Xinhua.

Nine of them were from the same family, he added.

Also in the province, police found the body of a soldier who was kidnapped earlier by gunmen in Shirqat city, some 110 km north of Tikrit, the source said, adding that the body was dumped on a roadside in the city with bullet holes in his head and chest.

A civilian was killed and another wounded when gunmen opened fire on their vehicle near the city of Maqdadiyah, some 100 km northeast of Baghdad, a police source said.
