Sanjay's parole extended by 30 days

Mumbai, Feb 18 : Bollywood actor and 1993 Mumbai serial blast case convict Sanjay Dutt's parole was extended by 30 days by the Maharashtra government on Tuesday.

Dutt, who is serving a sentence now, had sought parole citing the health condition of his wife.

He earlier got a parole in December last and it was extended up to Feb 19. He wanted further extension of a month.

Dutt's wife Maanyata reportedly got admitted in a hospital in January after she was diagnosed with tumour in the liver.

Dutt had walked out of the Yerwada Central Jail on Dec 21 in Pune on a 30-day parole granted on grounds of his wife Maanyata's illness.

However, media also reported that though Dutt was granted parole on grounds that Maanyata's illness, she was seen in an event on Dec 5.

Maanyata was spotted wearing a yellow top, rugged blue jeans and funky glasses at the screening of Shahid Kapoor-Sonakshi Sinha starrer 'R..Rajkumar' on Dec 5, according to media reports and images.

She was caught on camera by journalists waiting outside the movie theatre.

Dutt's parole application was sanctioned on Dec 6 by Pune's Divisional Commissioner.

On Oct 1, 2013, the actor was released for 14 days on medical grounds, which was later granted with an extension of another two weeks of his leave for treatment of his leg.

The Supreme Court on Mar 21, 2013 announced its verdict on Dutt's sentencing for illegal arms possession during the Mumbai bombings that had killed 257 people in 1993 in the nation's financial hub.
