West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra on Monday presented the state's Budget for 2014-15 at the West Bengal Legislative Assembly here.

This was third time he presented the state's Budget.

In the budget, he has set a revenue collection target in next financial year at Rs 45,000 crore.

West Bengal's tax revenue in the 2013-14 (revised) witnessed a growth of nearly 19 percent at Rs 39,100 crore.

In the budget, high allocation was made for Panchayat and Rural Development Ministry, which is an increase by 149 percent over last budget.

"State planned expenditure increased by 34.95 percent in the last fiscal," Mitra said.

Speaking on employment, Mitra said: " Our target for FY 2014-15 would be to create 16 lakh new employment opportunities."
