I have the right to contest from any place I want: Ashutosh
New Delhi, Feb.16 : Commenting on the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) first list for Lok Sabha polls and on contesting the polls from Delhi, party Spokesperson Ashutosh on Sunday said that he had the right to contest from any place he wanted.
"It is a legitimate question that why am I contesting from Delhi if I have worked in UP but all I can say is that I have been associated with Delhi ever since my education and I have always been seen as a Delhite," said Ashutosh.
"It is my right to fight elections from any place I want and if I want to contest polls, I want to do that like a common man. From the day I left my job, there was not even a Sunday where I spent at home," he said.
He also said that the elections would give his party a chance to introspect.
"There is a lot of transformation in the politics and the elections will give us a chance to introspect on all the questions raised against us. I am ready to commit mistakes and also learn from them," he added.
Earlier in the day, AAP announced that it would field journalist-turned politician Ashutosh against Union Minister Kapil Sibal and Mukul Tripathi against External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid.
Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia released a list of 20 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
"Our political affairs committee has finalized named for 20 seats for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Ashutosh will contest from the Chandni Chowk constituency against Kapil Sibal and Mukul Tripathi will be fielded against Salman Khurshid in Farrukhabad," he said.
Confirming that Kumar Vishwas will take on Rahul Gandhi in Amethi, Sisodia said that Anjani Damania would contest against Nitin Gadkari from Nagpur.
Sisodia added that senior advocate HS Phoolka will contest from Ludhiana against Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari, while Baba Hardev Singh will be the party's candidate against Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in Mainpuri.
Senior AAP leader Yogendra Yadav will contest polls from Gurgaon, while activist Medha Patkar has been given ticket from Mumbai North East.
